I have finally finished my term projects. My History, English, and Anthropology papers were finished a couple of weeks ago, but I have been working on a website for my media studies project. http://finalproject.cliosolutions.com This has been an interesting project because it required a lot of thought. I had to consider why newscasts chose to air some stories and not others. What makes a story newsworthy has little to do with the content of the story. Instead, networks are concerned with how a story can be used to influence their audience. You may find my project interesting. Let me know what you think.

Working For The Man

Working in the retail industry has given me a deep resentment of capitalism in general. People are so greedy that they will do almost anything to make a buck. It doesn't help that most of the money made in the retail industry is made during the Christmas shopping season. I don't have time to develop this idea right now, but I can tell you that retail has taken all of the fun out of Christmas for me.

Four Letter Words for Overtype

Tried to write a good post here, but blogger became a problem. Why does it overtype? I think that overtype is the worst feature a text editor can have. I guess it would be good if every word in the english language was four digits long, and every sentence four words, so the punctuation was always the same too.

Pick your own number, I picked four. The number 4 has four letters when spelled. No real reason.

Please don't break into my car again. I don't keep anything in there that has any value to anyone. You tried to steal my stereo, and then you realized that I don't keep the face plate in the car. Thanks for not taking it anyway, that would have sucked. Why were you trying to steal anything from my piece of crap car anyway? Poor people don't have nice things. Go and break into a car that costs a lot of money, you may have better luck there. Someone rich is driving it.

Today I was the most outspoken I have been at school this semester. My English class has only a few students who seem at all interested in being there! I find this incredible because these students are paying for the course. Of the entire class, only about four or five of us actually read the assignment for today; it was only three pages. The discussion regarding the article was good, but I found myself having to speak about it a lot more than I would have preferred. Maybe that is a good thing, but when I speak publicly, my face goes beat red. I hate that feeling of rosacia (spelling).

It happened again in my History class tonight, only this time I was rather aggressive. I guess I sort of ripped this guy's head off when he made a comment that I objected to. In order to stop my attack, he was forced to suggest that he was simply playing devil's advocate. I recognized his plea for relief and backed down rather anti-climatically. Boy was my face red. I heard some people behind me getting worried about how flush I had turned.

I got Gmail! Woohoo! I wanted to send an invite to a few friends, but it looks like they are no longer extending invites, so I guess I can't share this limited access with friends, but I must say, gmail looks cool, and I have always hated having delete important emails sent to my hotmail account.

If I had not happened across Gary's blog, I never would have seen his offer to share gmail invites with those interested. Although I had never met him or even heard of him before I saw his blog, he did not hesitate to send me the invite. A true gentleman, Thankyou. =>

I just watched Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. I never really watched Fox before because American news in general bothers me. After seeing this film, I have to say that if I lived in the United States, which I would never consider, I would have a satellite dish so that I could import news sources that did not work for the Republican Party of America. Forget the fear mongering that takes place in American news, I can deal with that. The very scary part of their news, especially that of Fox, is the way the media works with the government to control the population.
I hear that Fox has plans to come to Canada. Isn't control of the population/government of what is called the most powerful nation in the world enough for Fox/Rupert Murdoch? There are only 30 million Canadians anyway, and much of what we watch on TV is American anyway. Why not go after the communist nations of the world? There are a billion viewers in China, or atleast there would be if they all had TVs. I guess that is the real problem for Fox. The radio doesn't have the same hypnotic affect of TV. If I were PM, I would try to pass a bill that outlawed a Canadian version of Fox. Our democracy is too important to allow Fox to have its way up here too.

Cleaning the bathroom

If there is a task I hate, it is cleaning the bathroom. I think each fixture in the bathroom should have its own sponge. Why would you clean your sink with the same sponge you clean your toilet or bathtub with? Oh sure, maybe you think you are smart because you clean the sink first and the toilet last, so all those toilet germs don't find their way to your sink/face cloth/tooth brush. What about the next time you clean the bathroom? Is the sink getting the same treatment as last time? If so, consider which fixture was last scrubbed by that sponge. And those germs have been having a hay day in that sponge ever since!

Another thought to ponder... Why do we break our backs to clean the shower? The walls are made of tile, just like the bathroom floor (my floor is linoleum). I use a mop to clean the walls of my shower. I can get a lot more leverage out of the mop than I can get out of my arms.

Remember, if women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

I have finally found the meaning of life! Why we're all here. It is blog time people. We can publish our thoughts for all to see. Who knows where this information will end up, but one thing is certain, it will be around forever. The people of the world will one day look back at what we have blogged and say: Wow, our ancestors had amazing lives. Our blogs will inspire the lives of the next generations, and that is the meaning of life: to inspire others to live.
